Happy Birthday, Johnny

It was pointed out to me that yesterday was Sir John A MacDonald's birthday and I, like every other Canadian, spent all day at work, instead of lying around the house in track pants, drinking rye and watching daytime talk shows. Damn!

We get a day off for Queen Victoria's birthday, whose connection to Canada seems as equal, or possibly even less than Sir John A MacDonald's and we get July 1st off for 'Canada Day' (whatever that may mean) and the Ontario Liberals went and made up a new holiday in February and called it Family Day, yet the we don't get a day off for the father of our country? It's not even a government holiday! (Also known at Canada Post as a 'weekday')
