Playing To the Hometown Crowd

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair was pandering to the crowd when he said Canada will become one of the most powerful nations.

Damning us with faint praise: "I often say to people, Canada will become one of the most powerful nations in the world." He should have added: "Those people, however, have no idea what I'm talking about and often roll their eyes."

Before we all get too excited, he based this argument on our oil reserves, not on the usual list of suspects: multi-culturalism, rabid anti-Americanism and a overblown sense of entitlement.

Considering his participation in the Iraq War, is he possibly lining us up for an invasion? A return to the Commonwealth fold?
