Free Cake

I was having trouble focusing on work already today when there was an announcement that cake was being served in the lunch room and I knew right then that this day was blown. Free cake! I've only been here a few months and have been served cake three times (one for a client win, the other two times for staff birthdays). This should have been mentioned at the interview as it would have erased my hesitation.

"We're not going to pay you very well, but we will serve you cake. And we have an espresso machine."

"Done!"

My excuses for dogging it are that I had a busy and productive week, it's Friday and it's sunny. I have no pressing deadlines and I have done some work but more of the administrative side of things. I have written three blog posts so far and drunk four cups of coffee and 'strategically planned' the week ahead (that means writing down what I intend to do on my yellow note pad) but the cake derailed any attempt that I had to do anything substantial today.

Once again: free cake!
