Covers Songs That Are (Almost) Better Than The Originals

Covers That Are Better Than The Originals:

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - All Along The Watchtower

Even Bob Dylan conceded that Jimi owns this song now.

Ryan Adams - Wonderwall

A great take on a great song that it takes it in a new direction.

Johnny Cash - Hurt

NiN's best song, sung by someone who knows what the word Hurt means. Reznor's vocals sound like a school boy having a sissy fit in comparison.

New Found Glory - I Dont Wanna Miss A Thing

OK, doesn't count, since the original sucks, but I'd rather listen to this one than Aerosmith. (Which is a rule that could be applied to almost songs really)

Covers That Are Almost As Good As The Originals:

Tori Amos - Smells Like Teen Spirit

You'd think this would be too jokey, but she brings a new level to this song.

Reel Big Fish - Take On Me

If only this version had been released instead of the original, the history of the Western World in the late 20th century would have been completely different. (Or at the very least, the history of the Winter Olympics)

Ben Folds Five - Buddy Holly (Acoustic)

I love the original, but Mr. Folds does a good job with it, especially going acoustic.

Notable Mentions:

The Polyphonic Spree - Lithium

The Arcade Fire - Maps

Ryan Adams - Down In a Hole

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground
