Grinding My Gears II

The illustrious Mr. Smith writes about the decline of the hyphen and how it doesn't bother him that much in today's Globe. (As with Mr. Fulford at the Post, Mr. Smith's column justifies the cover price of any issue of the Globe that his work appears in).

The hyphen has suffered a slow death and perhaps it is only right that it be put out of its misery, though I cling to certain standards. Remember when e-mail was hyphenated? (Or when it was an uncountable noun, like mail?)
